Description
Skull, no mandible, of a turtle (Order Testudines). Originally mounted on a comparative osteology display board showing the formation of the palate. The skulls have been painted to show equivalent bones of the skull in different species. Key - pink: maxilla, green: maxilla (palatine process), blue: palatine bone, yellow: pterygoid, orange: vomer. This display compared the skulls of a human and three different species of turtles.
