Description
Potted specimen of a green tree snake (Dendrelaphis punctulatus). The specimen is preserved in fluid and contained in a cylindrical glass jar. The green tree snake is found in tropical and subtropical environments in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Although from a family generally considered non-venemous (colubrid snakes), the green tree snake does have a mildly venemous bite. This specimen would have been collected as part of medical studies into snake venom and its treatment.
