Description
This black and white photograph depicts the inside of the PANCH's public maternity ward on the 27th of November, 1961. Women can be seen in their beds with food trays over them, while a nurse arranges some flowers and a man in a suit and another nurse talk to a patient. There is a piece of paper attached to the back of this photograph with information about it.

The antenatal clinic was the first service to be established at PANCH, as it commenced in the early months of 1960. The first babies to be born at PANCH were twins born the day before the hospital's official opening in 1960. This photograph was taken the following year.
