Colour photograph of Ken Brearley, foundation Surgeon of PANCH, appointed in 1960. Brearley graduated from the University of Melbourne, did his residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and then did most of his post graduate training in the United Kingdom. Brearley was the Head of Surgical Unit 1 for thirty-four years at PANCH and then became the Senior Consulting Surgeon Foundation and Chairman Division of Surgery. In 1997 he published the book 'Images of PANCH: The Life of a Hospital'.
