Hot air syringe spout
A metal spout of a hot air syringe. Consists of attachment to rubber bulb, into which locks a taper fitting tube with thick-walled, heat-retaining end. Over this slides a thin-walled protecting metal sheath. Used to protect lips, etc from hot end when warm air was required. See articles in 'Dental' by H. F. Atkinson on history and philosophy of dentistry, in particular compressed and hot air protection.
