Description
Caricature of Acting Professor Lance Townsend (1913-1983), from a series of 26 drawings entitled 'Some characters seen in the course of a medical education' by Dr James Milne. Professor Townsend was appointed as the University of Melbourne’s first Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1951. He was Dean of Medicine at the University from 1971 to 1977, and was knighted in 1970.
