Description
Jaw reconstruction model demonstrating the use of the deep circumflex iliac artery (DCIA) flap from the hip for jaw reconstruction. Produced by Professor Ian Taylor, the model was utilised in a 1982 paper in the Annals of Plastic Surgery, 'Reconstruction of the Mandible with Free Composite Iliac Bone Grafts'. The paper, "introduces a technique of one-stage reconstruction of the soft tissues and bone of the lower jaw. It utilizes a living composite graft of groin skin and iliac bone, designed on the deep circumflex iliac vessels and transferred by microvascular techniques."
