Wedge

Description
Five in the collection measuring different angles (15, 25, 35, 45, 60 degrees). Wedges were used to even out the distribution of radiation beams, and to filter and distribute x-rays over the whole treatment area. These belong in a deep therapy machine. Staff used different coloured ribbons to decipher the angle of the wedge being used. The tradition of calling wedges by their colour continued for years after ribbons were no longer used.
