Anode

Maker
Machlett Laboratories
Date
1950s
Description
Beryllium window X-ray tube which has been cut to show the interior with the filament target and Beryllium exit portal. In this opened Machlett valve the anode is in one half and the filament (with a surrounding shield to collimate electrons) is in the other side. The target is at earthed potential and the filament is negative. The useful x-ray beam reflects from the beryllium window, thus inherent filtration is small.
