Grid

Description
In the early days of deep therapy treatment, the amount of radioactive treatment a patient could receive was dictated by how much the skin could take (it would get very hot and red). To compensate for this, the grid was used to disperse the X-ray beams across the skin. The skin would recover from radiation treatment much faster if it was scattered across the skin in small doses. The wax mould was placed directly onto the patient and moulded into the shape of the body part being treated.
