Printed certificate. The certificate reads: "Women’s Hospital/ Midwifery Department / Melbourne / 17th November, 1942 / This is to Certify / that Hester R. Hopkins has received Instruction in the / Special Work of the Midwifery Department of this Hospital for a period of / nine months and, after due examination, was found to be competent to / discharge the duties of an Obstetric Nurse." It is signed by the President Mabel Kimpton, Honorary Secretary Lillias M Skene, Secretary J G Butler, Examiners A M Hill and W D Saltau and Matron M E McDonald. It is unsigned by the nurse. The certificate has black and gold printed text, a gold and black decorative border; it is printed on cream paper. Names and signatures are in black and blue ink.
