Date
Circa 1950
Description
Large steel trolley with two levels of 8 removable steel mesh cribs used for transporting babies between Midwifery wards and Nursery. Paintwork in poor condition. Small engraved metal plate attached to one of the upper rails says "Presented by the Whittlesea Auxiliary". Another metal plate attached to a lower rail says: "Made in Australia Denyers Melbourne" written with Denyer's logo of a white cross with red text 'DEN' across and 'YER' vertically.

Known to have been in use during the early 1950s, but date range not known.

Another single level carriage with four cots is known to have been in use definitely until 1952 and possibly as late as 1955/56 which was when rooming-in commenced. It was still in Ward 32 in 1957/58 but may not have been in use at this time. This information supplied by Margaret Peters and Helen Ferguson, both midwives either training or on staff at thetime.

Each crib is approximately 28 h x 72 l x 36 w cms.

Crib #s (_001 - _004) are in better condition than crib #s (_005 -_008). Cribs (_007 and _008) are in poor condition, very rusted and chipped.
