Description
Wood rubber stamp with handle painted black and base stained mahogany, used for setting out the information written onto a newborn's label. This was a small card (luggage) label attached to the baby's singlet in the Labour Ward, in addition to the cotton tape label around the baby's wrist. Plastic wrist labels were introduced in 1970. Cot labels on babies' sheet or quilt were discontinued in 1982. Luggage labels were used until 1982.
