The certificate reads: "Women’s Hospital /Midwifery Department / Melbourne [blank] / This is to certify that Isabel Fraser has received Instruction in the / Special Work of the Midwifery Department of this Hospital for a period of / [blank] and, after due examination, was found to be competent to / discharge the duties of an Obstetric Nurse." It is signed by the President, Mary G Alston, Honorary Secretary, Lillias Skene, Secretary, GJ Butler, Examiners [two, illegible]. It is undated and unsigned by the Matron and nurse.

The certificate has black and gold printed text, a gold and black decorative border; it is printed on cream paper. Names and signatures are in black and blue ink.
