Uniform - Mothercraft Nurse

Description
Mothercraft nurses at the Royal Women's Hospital provided their own uniform. This, according to Margaret Mabbitt is an example of one. The dress is made of white cotton (discoloured) with a Peter Pan collar, cap sleeves, back opening, two side pockets and a narrow breast pocket. The dress is secured by three buttons (removable, with shank and clip), one at the neck and two at the waist. There are two waist ties at the front that are also secured by buttons (removable, with shank and clip) at the back. All the buttons are missing. The skirt is below calf length and has four panels which are cut to create a flared skirt. The dress was manufactured by Melrose and is size OS. A1994_17_035 is an example of the mothercraft cap from the same period.
