Description
Set of instruments in wooden, velvet lined case. The set includes laryngeal and tracheotomy instruments, tonsil and palate forceps, a scalpel and other instruments. There is a brass plate on the lid with the engraved words 'OPERATION INSTRUMENTS'.

This is one of several items formerly owned by the donor's late husband, Dr Berhard Treister (28/03/1937 - 01/12/2006). Dr Treister's early training was in paediatric cardiology which evolved into great expertise in the area of adult congenital heart disease. He was appointed Director of Cardiology at Austin Hospital in 1973, and continued his association with the hospital as a sessional cardiologist and a senior associate in Medicine at the University of Melbourne, until his death.
