Photocopies made by Dr Vincent Amerena of the first dental bill which was introduced into the Victorian parliament.7 pages in total, black and white, stapled in the top-left corner. The front page is Amerena's handwriting, reading "FOUR COPIES OF THE FIRST DENTAL BILL WHICH WAS INTRODUCED INTO THE / VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT. IN THE YEAR 1882 THE BILL WAS INTRODUCED / BY THE LATER DR L L SMITH - A SOMEWHAT CONTROVERSIAL MEDICAL / PRACTITIONER. IT WAS QUIETLY SHELVED. / THE BILL WAS SPONSORED BY A DENTAL ASSOCIATION WHICH HAD BEEN FORMED / LARGELY AMONG THE ADVERTISING DENTISTS - THE ASSOCIATION FOLDED UP SOON AFTER."

Dr Vincent Amerena was an active member of the Victorian dental community and was a past president of the Victorian Dental Board. The collection was donated by his daughter Louise Mitchell (nee Amerena).
