Description
Biography of the author's father, Harold Vernon Mattingley, who spent twelve years between 1898 and 1910 as a dentist on the West Australian goldfields ; includes observations about the teeth of Aboriginal people encountered. Page ii includes a portrait of H.V. Mattingley. Page iii describes the biography as "The colourful career of a graduate from the first course of the / Australian Dental College and Melbourne Dental Hospital / before the turn of the century, who served his profession in / Victoria and Western Australia through sixty-three exciting, / turbulent years."

The original owner of this book, Dr Vincent Amerena, was an active member of the Victorian dental community and was a past president of the Victorian Dental Board. The collection was donated by his daughter Louise Mitchell (nee Amerena).
