Description
Yellow glazed ceramic vessel with a cork stopper that housed mercury for use in dental amalgam work. On the side of the bottle is the following script: "HARRINGTONS "PERFECTION" TRIPLE DISTILLED DENTAL MERCURY 1LB."

Dental amalgam is used in fillings for dental cavities caused by tooth decay. Typically, liquid mercury was mixed with a metal alloy to produce amalgam for filling cavities (the metal alloy is often comprised of the metals silver, tin, copper and other trace metals). Other filling materials can entail gold or porcelain.
