Glove powder shaker

Maker
Silverglo Australia (estab. 1948)
Date
Circa 1948
Description
Stainless steel canister with series of perforations on top and screw cap on base for replacing powder. Before disposable surgical gloves were introduced, gloves had to be washed and autoclaved before re-use. Once washed and dried talcum powder was shaken into each glove and they were placed individually in pockets of a fabric sleeve before autoclaving. This was done until the new hospital was occupied in 1969. Makers details stamped on base "SILVERGLO / STAINLESS / PRODUCT".
