Cro-Magnon limb bone, plaster cast
R. F. Damon and Co (estab. 1850)
Plaster cast of a human limb bone from Cro-Magnon, an upper paleolithic fossil site in southwestern France. This site, discovered in 1868, yielded fossils of anatomically modern humans that have been dated to 27,680 years before present. These casts were bought by the Anatomy Department in c.1909 to use as teaching specimens in classes on human anatomy and evolution. This specimen needs repair and conservation.
