Description
The Dental Therapy School building located at 448 St Kilda Road Melbourne was opened in 1976. Under the auspice of the Victorian Department of Health, the ground floor housed the Department of Human Services.
The building had a 60 chair dental clinic on the first floor in which dental therapy students trained. Children were brought in by bus from local schools for treatment by 2nd year students under the supervision of dentist demonstrators to ensure skills were developed in treating children, fillings and injections for LA.
The surgery adjacent to the clinic was used for the treatment of children whose needs were beyond what the trainee Dental Therapists could provide.
