Mandible of Cape mole-rat (Georychus capensis), a burrowing rodent native to the Western and Eastern Cape Provinces of South Africa. This specimen was originally collected by Dr R. J. Ortlepp, a South African parasitologist whose research interest was not the mole-rat itself, but the parasitic worms that infected it.
