The book Sepia and Sands (sepia for the old photos and sands for Sandhurst Bendigo’s old name ) is Ross Melrose-Read's self published book; 'A collection of writings based on a collection of memorable times..." on the occasion of the celebration of his parents Golden Wedding Anniversary, 16th April 1988.
Photos and writings from a family history, four generations of Dentists and members of the Bendigo community since pioneering days arriving in 1854.

Dr John Melrose (1821-1912) in 1886 went into partnership with his eldest son Dr. W. Bryden Melrose, and the firm of Melrose and Son was then established in Bull-street Bendigo. Subsequently owing to the expansion of their business, they relocated to Pall Mall, and later they had premises specially constructed to suit their requirements as dentists and jewellers in View-street.
Dr Bryden Melrose also a dentist worked with his father Dr. W. Bryden Melrose after he returned from WWII around 1946.
Ross Melrose-Read a dentist, trained at Melbourne Dental hospital, and served in Australian Dental Corps in Malaysia and in Australia various postings in 1960/70.
