Dr. Saul Wiener name plate

Date
Circa 1962
Description
A metal name plate, belonging to Dr Saul Wiener. This plate would have been attached to an office door or wall (the two holes would be used to drill the plate to the wall). It is engraved with "Dr S. WIENER / ALLERGIC DISEASES".

Dr Wiener held various eminent positions during his lifetime, including as a research officer at the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories where he led the discovery of anti-venom for the Redback Spider. Wiener also worked for the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and the Queen Victoria Medical Centre. The plaque may have been used when Dr Wiener was an Allergist (1962-1983) and then an Honorary Allergy Consultant (1983-1999) at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
