Mortar and pestle set, with wax seal

Circa 1870
The set of three mortar and pestal were dated by Mr Li Ping Du, Department of Asian Studies University of Melbourne. They are made of stoneware. The mortars are covered on the outer surface with a white glaze overlaid with a leaf and flower design. The original designers seal set in red wax appears near the base.
Bought by Sir Douglas Wright and Lady Muriel Wilmot-Wright in China in 1972.
