Description
Specimen of the nematode, Ascaris lumbricoides, a large parasitic worm that causes ascariasis. It is the most common parasitic worm in humans. An estimated one-sixth of the human population is at some point infected by a roundworm such as A. lumbricoides; people living in tropical and subtropical countries are at greater risk of infection.
