4 rolls of film negatives, one film canister labelled "SKULL", two orthodontic films of teeth and photographic print of teeth.Stored in brown cardboard box labelled "Some Tasman Series negatives".
The negatives include images of the mandible board, skulls and measuring devices used by Dr William Adam in his study of Aboriginal Tasmanian dentition. The mandible measuring device was constructed by the researcher, modelled after apparatus from the Galton Laboratory at University College London, the epicentre of 20th century eugenics research.

Part of a collection of objects from Dr. William Adam, relating to his thesis for a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Melbourne School of Dental Science in 1940, in which his research on jaws and teeth of 56 Tasmanian Aboriginal skulls are recorded.

Dr William Adam (1894-1073) graduated from the University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Dental Science in 1915. He was President of the Victorian branch of the Australian Dental Association in 1934, and received a Doctor of Dental Science, University of Melbourne, in 1940.
Published a paper, 'The Keilor fossil skull; palate and upper dental arch' in Memoirs of the National Museum, Melbourne, 1943. Honorary dental staff member, Alfred Hospital, 1946.
