Handbook course notes in a green ring binder used by the first intake of Dental Therapy students in 1976 at the School of Dental Therapy, 448 St Kilda Road. Notes include a welcome to the inaugural course, anatomy, histology and radiography. Course notes in the green folder were supplied by The Dental Therapy School and had to be memorised, Dental Therapy students were discouraged from seeking knowledge from any other source.

The Dental Therapy School building located at 448 St Kilda Road Melbourne was opened in 1976. Under the auspice of the Victorian Department of Health, the ground floor housed the Department of Human Services.

The Diploma of Applied Science (Dental Therapy), completed over a two year period, with a main theme of Preventive Dentistry. The fundamental philosophy of Therapists work is the education, and motivation of children, their parents and the general community in all matters relating to good oral health. In the first six months the course includes the study of anatomy, histology and first-aid, while practical work involves art and dental anatomy. Applied dental subjects are studied in the second six months, these include operative dentistry, with practical classes in cavity preparation, manipulation of filling materials, and the use and care of dental equipment. Other subjects include dental pathology, radiology and community welfare. During the second year students experience several hours of practical dentistry each day.
