Description
Dr Eric Neville Harle Gandevia (1891-1958) graduated from the University of Melbourne with a MBBS, Bachelor of Medicine 17 September 1917, and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1919. Gandevia was resident at the Alfred hospital, 1918.

Appointed Captain Australian Army Medical Corps (A.A.M.C) in World War I embarked from Melbourne in Nov 1918 on SS City of Karachi. Although the position was temporary, Dr Gandevia's appointment was published in the London Gazette. The certificate was issued from London and holds a stamp copy of King George V's signature, and that of the head of the armed forces. Medical work at Sutton Veny Camp and A.I.F.H.Q. London. Demob. 28.12.1918.

From 1921 - 1924, Dr Gandevia is listed as Medical Practitioner at a Private Practice in Alexandra, Victoria, Australia. From 1930 he was Assistant Anaesthetist at Melbourne Hospital, and Medical Practitioner 1939 in Abbotsford, Victoria Australia.

On the 28 April 1938, a Diploma in Anaesthetics was awarded to Dr. Eric Neville Harle Gandevia by both the Royal College of Physicians of London and The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
By 1945 he had attained the position of Honorary Anaesthetist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
