Certificate of appointment of Dr. Gerald Henry Fetherston (1829-1901) to the Victorian (Colony) Military Forces, to the Rank of Surgeon-Major, commencing on 1 January 1884, although the certificate is dated 9 August 1886. Dr. Fetherston rose to the rank of Surgeon-Colonel on 19 August 1898.





This certificate was held in an enclosed metal cylinder, holding the certificates and testimonials of both Richard Herbert Fetherston and Gerald Henry Fetherston.
