Handwritten petition to Sir George Gipps, Captain General and Governor-in-Chief of N.S.W., by fifteen Port Phillip District (Victoria) Surgeons, Physicians and Apothecaries, requesting the establishment of a Medical Board in Melbourne. The petitioners were Patrick Cussen(1792-1849), William Byam Wilmot (1805-1874), Augustus Frederick Greeves (1805-1874), Charles John Sanford , WH Campbell (1814-1888), James Frederick Palmer (1803-1871), David Elliot Wilkie(1815-1885) , Edmund Charles Hobson (1814-1848), Thomas Black (1799-1894), Edward Boyd Adams, Godfrey Howitt (1800-18730, John Patterson (1789-1853), David John Thomas (1813-1871), Arthur O’Mullane (1812-1863) and John Sealy Griffin.

Originally donated by Dr. David Roesby in 1940.
