Prescriptions book from Mr Grounds' pharmacy

Date
Circa 1870-1887
Description
Prescriptions compiled by Pharmacist Mr. Grounds, whose Pharmacy was located at 286 Ferrass Street, South Melbourne, in the late nineteenth century. The prescriptions were compiled by Mr. Grounds in a vellum-covered notebook, as journal clippings and handwritten scraps of paper. The notebook is self indexing with the predominantly handwritten entries arranged under alphabetic letter cateogires. The notebook also holds loose handwritten notes and clippings, including a list of addresses for suppliers. The separate journal clippings and scraps of paper have no specific order, but unlike the notebook entries, some of these prescriptions are dated, spanning the years 1870 to 1887.
