Edward Hamilton Blair Barker(1853-1885) MB Melb,1875, was the son of Edward Barker (1816-1885). Edward H B Barker held positions of Resident Medical Officer to the Metropolitan Assylm Kew, deputy superintendant at the Ararat Lunatic Asylum then Public Vaccinator and Health Officer for Robe .

Edward Barker (1816-1885).FRCS Eng,MD Melb. held the position of house surgeon at the University College Hospital, London. Arrived in Victoria in 1840 as one of the early colonists. 1851 elected surgeon to the Benevolent Asylum, and in 1852 was chosen as one of the honorary surgeons at the Melbourne Hospital- a connection he retained for 23 years. When Melbourne Medical School was founded in 1862 and Barker was appointed Lecturer in surgery in 1863. A position he held until 1880. He was one of the founders of the Medical Society of Victoria and became its President. Two of his sons did medicine.Barker's Road, Kew, is named after Edward.
