Description
S. Clarke's Pyramid & Fairy Light Company, Ltd. Fairy size night light.
Spiral dome of Nailsea style glass, yellow, white and red flecked in colour.
Porcelain cream base with decorative gold edge, "S.Clarke's Patent Trade Mark Fairy" is stamped inside the base. Taylor, Tunnicliff & Co., Ltd. stamp is on the bottom of the base. The circled monogram topped with a crown identifies the maker as the English firm of Taylor, Tunnicliff & Co., Ltd.
Round clear ribbed glass candle holder with Round cream candle.
From 1887 to 1910, Samuel Clarke of London's decorative fairy lamps would dominate the market.
All the Clarke lamp bases or bowls, flint bottoms, candle cup holders, pressed or blown glass shades (domes), were made by other selected companies.
Nailsea Glass was made by workers at the end of the day from the leftover glass, and became known for its distinctive combed white lines.
