Description
French seltzer jug with floral and gilt decoration. Conical with inner dividing wall, two necks and dual spout, and long ear shaped handle.

Used for making sparkling water to medically treat diseases of the throat. An aqueous solution of baking soda went into one side, and an aqueous solution of tartaric acid into the other. The two solutions mixed when poured to create carbolic acid gas or seltzer water.
