Printed and hand written degree bearing a paper-backed, metal seal attached to a ribbon fed through a slit at the bottom of the paper. The document acknowledges Livingston’s qualifications from the University of Edinburgh.

One of twenty degrees awarded to doctors in recognition of learning overseas. The first was awarded to Anthony Colling Brownless in 1856.
