Description
For weighing amalgam and mercury. Precision instrument of unique type, allowing for correct quantities of alloy and mercury for a restoration. One end of the arm is moulded in the form of a small pan, while the other is larger. Deep groove down centre arm. In use, the riders were adjusted according to the size of the cavity and hence the volume of amalgam required. Estimated amount of mercury was poured into right hand pan and then amalgam powder was slowly sifted into the left hand pan, and the balance would tilt, with mercury running into the left hand pan. Contents then tipped into a mortar. This method produced a constant mix and excellent results.
