Mercury bottle

Date
Circa 1930s
Description
As mercury reacts with most metals and at that time it was difficult to make leak-proof dropper bottles of glass that could dispense mercury drop by drop, use was made of wood. Boxwood could be turned, drilled and threaded. Joints were very easily made leak-proof by turning or cutting threads on the parts.
