Cathcart freezing microtome

Description
This microtome used ether as a refrigerant. The chuck was adjusted by screw, glass ether reservoir secured to side. The instrument has a wooden body, brass clamp and screw and glass ledges. Steel with a wooden grip. Separate knife has a steel glade and wooden handle.

This microtome was used by Dr C.H. Mollison, lecturer in Forensic Medicine, University of Melbourne, 1904 to 1943.
