Description
Townsend is seated on a carved throne chair. Dr Lance Townsend (1913-1983) was appointed the University of Melbourne’s first Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1951. He was Dean of Medicine at the University from 1971 to 1977. He was knighted in 1970.
