Moulded mandible in two parts

Kenneth Russell (b.1885, d.1945)
Circa 1920
This is a model of a lower mandible, cut through between the left lower two bicuspids and rejoined with a metal or brass attachment. The model has been separated at the join to show the details of the brass attachment, which shows a larger section fitting over a smaller, and the two being held firmly in place when attached by a screw and nut. The object is related to 2649, 2650, and 2651. All four models are complicated moulds, possibly used in a training exercise in the making of cast lower splints, although this is not an entirely adequate explanation of their use.
