Boiler for novocaine

Maker
J.L. Brown & Co.
Date
Circa 1930
Description
Circular container of approximately 30 cc capacity with widely flared top. Calibration marks inside at the 2.5 + 2.8 cc capacity. It has a twisted wire frame to hold the boiler when heated.

This is one of the many boilers used in the local extraction room of the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne. The local anaesthetic came in the form of tablets, one of which was placed in the boiler with the correct amount of Ringers Solution and boiled. The flared out top was to prevent the loss of solution if heated too rapidly.
