Description
Portable Cambridge potenteometer complete with standard cell and instructions, in polished wooden carry case. Other notes: on checking, the standard cell was satisfactory and the dry cells were replaced but the instrument was "unstable." i.e. variable results for no apparent reason. Opening the case, all connections were heavy soldered goal lost type and appeared secure. However, one soldiered joint was "dry"and pulled away. Reformed-resoldered after which is now stable.

From an article in The Australian Dental Journal, the discarded instrument was used from the late 1930s to early or mid 1960s. When internal documents were checked, the a handwritten test note stated tthe instrument was erratic and useable.
