Broad end serrated lugger

Typical. Has polished ebony handle and a thick shank. Part of a set of eight instruments. The instruments have not been identified from existing catalogues but are similar to illustrations in various texts. They probably pre date gold and amalgam and therefore would have been used on tin, lead and gutta percha.
